One thing we know to be true is that if you want your clients to understand the vastness of Africa, the best way to do that is from the air. Tropic pilots have spent years flying Africa’s highest mountains, their intimate knowledge of the terrain, mountain winds and weather, places you in safe hands.
We are hugely grateful to @tanzaniaparks for their trust and support, which make these trips possible. Best of all, every flight gives back to Tanzania National Parks, and contributes toward the protection of these incredible places.
With many of Tanzania’s guests routing through Arusha, it’s easy to organise a stopover in this bustling town. A few hours of rest, and then your clients can be soaring into the blue skies and banking away from the town towards the gentle slopes of Kilimanjaro.
We have spent countless hours flying Mt Kilimanjaro through our work providing rescue services. The flights highlight the vast diversity of the mountain’s six climatic zones; landing at the Cathedral provides a wonderful perspective of Kili’s western face, and overlooks a thick carpet of giant heather.
Alternatively fly the impossibly steep slopes of Mount Meru, and land on its volcanic cone and enjoy a unique view of Mt Kilimanjaro above the clouds. Beautiful at dawn with a picnic breakfast or at last light for sundowner drinks.

For the past several days, geospatial expert Holger Eichstaedt has been flying aboard one of our helicopters, conducting a specialized spatial survey of Tanzania’s mountain landscapes. Using advanced aerial mapping technology, his work is capturing high-precision data on terrain, ecosystems, and geological features in some of the country’s most remote and rugged regions. Helicopters provide the perfect platform for this mission, allowing for detailed surveying in areas that would otherwise be inaccessible.
