In late September, a fire broke out on the northern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, threatening the region’s unique ecosystem. As always, Tropic Helicopters is dedicated to supporting our local communities and wildlife preservation. In response to this crisis, we donated our helicopter for two consecutive days to assist in the firefighting efforts, working closely with Kilimanjaro National Park Authority (KINAPA).

How We Contributed

Our Airbus H125 B3e helicopter was deployed free of charge to deliver much-needed supplies, including food, water, and other refreshments to the hard-to-reach areas affected by the fire. This crucial air support ensured that firefighting teams could stay hydrated and energized as they battled the blaze.

On Thursday morning, we conducted a reconnaissance flight to assess the situation. We then inserted two teams of rangers into strategic positions on the mountain and delivered critical supplies to sustain the firefighting efforts.

Our Commitment to Kilimanjaro Conservation

Tropic Helicopters remains committed to playing an active role in the preservation of Mount Kilimanjaro’s unique environment. Our team stands ready to provide continued assistance as the situation unfolds. The fight to protect Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes is ongoing, and we’re proud to contribute our resources to this essential cause.

At Tropic Helicopters, community and conservation go hand-in-hand, and we believe that these collaborative efforts with organizations like KINAPA are vital to safeguarding Tanzania’s natural wonders.

Looking Forward

We are grateful to all the brave firefighters and rangers who have put their lives on the line to protect Kilimanjaro. Our helicopters remain on standby for further operations as needed.
